We consider all brands of bicycles originally purchased at a bike shop for trade-in value when purchasing a new bike. The trade-in value is determined when we see the bicycle. It cannot be estimated over the phone. The trade-in value cannot exceed the value of the new bike being purchased. Occasionally we are brought bikes that are worn out, and we can even guide you to a charity that rebuilds and repurposes those bikes for the homeless or poor. We work closely with several non-profit organizations which serve those who are less fortunate.
Price is determined by the make, model, age, and condition of the bike brought in as a trade-in and the new bike purchase price. We are unique in that we will take so many different brands and models as trade-ins. Most bike shops don’t have staff with the experience to tell the difference between models sold at a department (big box) store and a bike shop. We do! We know that most good bike brands are sold at department stores and online. We can recognize the difference and offer you a fair value for your old bike when you purchase a new bike.
This is valuable to anyone who wants a new bike and has no one to whom they wish to pass on their existing bike. For example children’s bikes are often passed down from the oldest child to a younger child. As adults, your adult children may live elsewhere or are not interested in the riding style of the bike you want to pass on. Trading in your old bike can be easier than trying to sell it yourself on the internet or in your neighborhood. If you choose not to trade-in your old bike, we can tell you a fair price you may be able to sell it for on your own. Then you can make an informed choice about whether to trade-in, sell outright, or donate your old bike.
